The Apollo 14 splashdown on February 9, 1971 has been merged with an excerpt from Kennedy's Special Message to Congress on Urgent National Needs, on May 25, 1961: "I believe that this nation should commit itself to the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to earth." The caption reads, "Every Kennedy speech made a splash. Some just more than others."
